Getting an Estimate, From A to Z

Because we want to make it as easy as possible for homeowners to book an estimate, there are two simple ways to get it done: If you happen to realize that you would like an estimate while a Boulden Brothers technician is in your home, they will be able to assist you by calling you into the office to speak with our project coordinator. Or if you’ve obtained our phone number from the radio, in the newspaper, online, etc., just call us and we’ll immediately transfer you to our project coordinator to get the process started.

What will happen when I call in?

The project coordinator will gather all the relevant information about your home so that our project manager will be prepared to meet your expectations and address your specific needs once he makes the visit. Some of the information we’ll be gathering is the age of the current system, whether it’s natural gas, propane, oil, or electric, and what it is that you’re looking to do (e.g., switch from oil or heat pump to gas). We’ll also ask for the day and time that you would like the appointment. The project coordinator will email you a free pamphlet about what to expect during the process of trying to find an HVAC contractor.

If you don’t know all the exact details about when your system was installed, we will certainly be able to find out once we’re in your home. (More often than not, a homeowner’s equipment ends up being even older than they thought.) Based off of the serial number, we can tell when the equipment was manufactured and get a good idea of approximately how old the system is.

What happens once I set an appointment?

We’ll call you the evening before to confirm the appointment and again when the project manager is on his way. Because want to make everything as stress-free as possible, you’ll receive a text message showing a photo of the project manager along with his bio. Our clients tend to love this feature because it give a bit of information about the person who will visit your home. Additionally, it’s great to know that the person who shows up at your door will arrive in a Boulden branded truck, wearing a Boulden uniform, and carrying a Boulden ID badge. We do everything we can to make sure your home and your family stays safe.

Once the project manager gets to your home, the first thing they will do is confirm the information we obtained to make sure it’s accurate. Most importantly, though, they will need to find out a little bit more about your family and home to make sure we do everything we can to meet your expectations for the new system. Next, we perform a full engineering analysis to determine the heat loss and heat gain in the home. (This is a unique feature we provide, but we think it should be done by every heating/cooling contractor.) The analysis will tell us the number of BTUs we need for heating or cooling to ensure we’re installing properly sized equipment that will run as efficiently and as long as possible. The entire process, from beginning to end, will take approximately 60 to 90 minutes. During that time, we’ll make sure to address every issue and concern you may have.

How long will it take for you to figure out a plan?

More than likely we’ll be able to come up with a plan while we’re still at your home. Of course, there are extremely rare occasions when something is unusual or complex and the engineering needs must be met outside your home before we can provide you with information. However, about 98% of the time we’ll be able to discuss a complete list of options that best suit your needs while at your home.

What’s next

We like to ask for a decision because if we’re doing our job correctly, we should have addressed all of our client’s needs. There are times of year when we offer different promotions or specials. If there is something that we’re currently offering, we will make sure to let you know. The most important timeframe for clients tends to be when they are available and/or when they would like the installation to be completed. After all, most people don’t want to wait for weeks if they’re met with an unexpected surprise and it’s extremely hot or cold outside. In many cases we can set up an installation date for the next day.

We know that homeowners want to make an informed decision. Going with Boulden Brothers is always going to be a good choice in terms of value for the service we provide. If you’re in the process of trying to find an HVAC contractor, get scheduled for an estimate today by giving Boulden Brothers call or contacting us online.
